The Mumbai Police tracked down an MBA graduate who reportedly phoned and threatened Ratan Tata, the veteran industrialist and ex-chairman of Tata Sons.

The investigation reportedly revealed that the anonymous caller suffered from schizophrenia, shedding light on the underlying circumstances surrounding the threatening call. The caller had urged the police to bolster Ratan Tata's security measures, cautioning that failure to do so might result in a fate resembling that of Cyrus Mistry, who tragically passed away in a car accident on September 4, 2022.

Upon receiving the distressing call, the Mumbai Police swiftly activated comprehensive security protocols. A dedicated team was promptly assigned to ensure Ratan Tata's personal safety, while another team initiated efforts to identify and gather information regarding the caller's identity.

Through technical assistance and collaboration with a telecom service provider, the police successfully traced the caller's location to Karnataka, although it was revealed that the individual hailed from Pune.

Following up on the lead, authorities visited the caller's residence in Pune, only to discover that the individual had been missing for the past five days. Notably, the caller's wife had filed a report at the Bhosari police station in Pune regarding the disappearance.

Further inquiries into the caller's background uncovered critical details. Relatives of the individual informed the police about the caller's battle with schizophrenia and disclosed that the call was made using a phone taken without permission from someone else's residence.

The Mumbai Police were informed that the caller had contacted their control room and issued threats to Ratan Tata. Given the caller's documented struggle with schizophrenia, law enforcement decided against pursuing legal actions.

It was revealed that the caller, despite grappling with schizophrenia, possessed an MBA in finance and had also pursued studies in engineering. The incident underscores the challenges surrounding mental health issues and emphasizes the need for support and understanding within communities.
