Mumbai to  station 3000 traffic cops across city to ensure safe celebrations in New Year's Eve

Mumbai: About 3,000 traffic policemen will be stationed on the roads of the financial capital Mumbai on New Year's Eve to ensure that no drink driving and road wrath accidents take place. A notification issued from the joint commissioner of traffic police, Amitesh Kumar in which it is instructed to the cops monitor the roads of the city from 10 pm on December 31 to 4 am on January 1.

Reports in Hindustan Times suggested that the traffic police will keep a check on no-parking zones, alternate routes and one-way roads for drunk driving and speeding. Additional commissioner of traffic police, Veeresh Prabhu stated that the cops would be deployed on more than 50 locations and equipped with more than 100 breath analyzers for the campaign in opposition to drunk driving.

In this mission Special attention will be given to places like the Gateway of India and the Marine Drive Promenade as massive crowds gather here to have a good time on the arrival of New Year.

A police official stated that the teams are equipped to deal with the usually crowded places and party zones. Citizens can make contact with the police control room on 022-24939717 in case of any violations.  Cops would be available to help on Whatsapp and Twitter as well.
