Halle Berry believes that her struggles are frequently ignored because of her good looks. The Oscar winner has tried to refute the assumption that she has had it easy, claiming that people are quick to criticize her solely on her beautiful looks.

"This is another fight I've battled my whole life," Halle, 55, told the New York Times newspaper. That I've been spared any suffering because I look a particular way. In my life, I've experienced loss, grief, and a great deal of suffering. In my life, I've been abused. "It irritates me when people assume that just because I look a particular way, I haven't had any of those real-life experiences when I have." Halle won the Oscar for Best Actress in 2002 for 'Monster's Ball'.

Halle, however, did not obtain the employment prospects she had hoped for after receiving the prestigious award. "It was unexpected," the Hollywood actor previously stated, "because I assumed they were just going to back up the truck and drop them off at my house, right?" When you win a game like that, you think to yourself, "Oh, this is going to radically alter." It changed me substantially, but it didn't affect my role in the organization overnight. Even yet, I had to return to work. Even so, I had to strive to find a path out of nowhere."

Halle has also felt economic pressure to take on certain roles at one stage in her career. The acclaimed actress - who has kids Nahla, 13, and Maceo, seven - explained: "It's like, okay, that's a film I can't say I'm totally in love with, but this isn't a hobby. It's how I take care of my children. "But I try to keep that sense of wonder and stay curious. Because being a black woman, I haven't always had parts that I absolutely love."
