'My Summer in Seoul,' an upcoming romantic book set in the competitive world of K-Pop, will be turned into a television series by author Rachel Van Dyken.
The rights to 'My Summer in Seoul' have been prematurely acquired by Will Yun Lee, Mark and Christine Holder's Seoul Street and 04 Entertainment. A female Asian American writer is being sought to create the adaptation.'
The idea comes amid a recent surge in global interest in Korean dramas, which culminated in the international success of Netflix's 'Squid Game,' which has become a global sensation.m Grace Lee, a Korean-American, goes on a life-changing trip to Seoul to work for her uncle's record company in 'My Summer in Seoul,' which will be published later this autumn.
Her life changes when she starts an internship with one of the world's top K-Pop bands. She quickly learns that she's experiencing her own K-Drama come to reality as she forms connections with the members and begins to fall for one in particular, and while she desires happily ever after, she may end up with a painful lesson learnt. Lee chases her ambitions all the way to Korea to work as an intern at one of the world's greatest musical companies in the series, which has been characterised as "Emily in Paris" meets "To All The Boys I've Loved Before."
For Seoul Street, Lee, Mark Holder, and Christine Holder produce, with Colet Abedi, Jasmine Abedi, and Brian Zagorski for 04. 'Aloha MotherF**ker,' a drama series based on Jason Ryan's best-selling novel "Hell-Bent," is now airing on HBO Max. 'Lions in the Garden,' a feature film, is now in development with Kevin Hart's HartBeat Productions.
