Kate Walsh felt at ease when she returned to Grey's Anatomy. The 54-year-old actress first debuted on the long-running medical drama as Dr. Addison Montogomery, Derek Shepherd's (Patrick Dempsey) estranged wife, in the season 1 finale. She stayed on as the neonatal surgeon for several seasons until becoming the executive producer of the spinoff Private Practice, which aired from 2007 to 2013.

Addison, on the other hand, had a grab the attention to Grey-Sloan Memorial last week and will feature on Thursday's episode. Walsh claimed it was "intense" and "very emotional" to reconnect with her former co-stars on set during a panel discussion on Monday. "It's all the feelings," she explained. "It was just stunning. We reconnected at the COVID test tent, hugged each other while wearing our masks, and then proceeded to perform while wearing our masks."

It was "important and profound" for Walsh to see Ellen Pompeo, Chandra Wilson, and James Pickens Jr., the three original Grey's Anatomy performers who have stayed on the programme for all 18 seasons. In Thursday's episode, Walsh teased that fans will see a lot more of Addison and Scorsone's Amelia Shepherd, Derek Shepherd's younger sister.

"You really see Addison and Amelia's chemistry play out and their reconnection in the second episode," she added. "That was a tremendous thrill for me, and I believe viewers will love it as well because it's a very different sort of episode than the first, but it's extremely intimate and gratifying," she says.
