New Delhi: Former President Pranab Mukherjee on Friday mentioned former PM PV Narasimha Rao as a great leader. He said that after difficult circumstances, he bravely made many reforms in the country. He said that due to the courageous leadership of former PM PV Narasimha Rao, the country has been victorious in overcoming many challenges. On the occasion of the birth centenary celebrations of the former PM, the former President said that Narasimha Rao had not only connected with his birthplace Telangana but also with the whole country.

On this occasion, Congress President Sonia Gandhi also remembered former PM PV Narasimha Rao and said that due to his bold leadership, the country was victorious in overcoming many challenges. The party is proud of his achievements and contributions. In a pre-recorded message, President Pranab Mukherjee said, '"I am glad that his centenary celebrations are being organised by Telangana PCC. But I do believe that others would also be inspired to celebrate his birth centenary because he belonged to the whole of India and not only a part of his birthplace Telangana." He further said that Narasimha Rao Showed courage, conviction in leading India though reforms.

Former PM Narasimha Rao was born on 28 June 1921 and died on 23 December 2004. He was the Prime Minister of the country from 21 June 1991 to 16 May 1996.
