Hyderabad: National Lok Adalat will be organized in all the courts of Telangana on September 11 for disposal of all civil and compoundable criminal cases. According to G Anupama Chakraborty, Member Secretary, Telangana State Legal Services Authority, Lok Adalat is providing services without any cost or fee and the court fee paid in pending cases will be refunded if the matter is settled through Lok Adalat. And there is no appeal against the award passed in the Lok Adalat.

The general public is requested to take advantage of the Lok Adalat mechanism for disposal of their cases in the National Lok Adalat on September 11. Individuals desirous of settling their pending cases or pre-litigation matters may approach the Chairman or Secretary, District Legal Services Authority.

Lok Adalat (People's Court) is an alternative dispute resolution mechanism used in India. It is a forum where pending cases are settled at the pre-litigation stage in the Panchayat or in the court. It has statutory authority under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987. Under this Act, the decision(s) made by Lok Adalats are treated as a civil court case and are final and binding on all parties.
