Lok Sabha passes bill to extend abortion limit to 24 weeks

On Tuesday, the Lok Sabha has taken a big decision regarding the maximum limit of abortion. Under which, the bill allowing to increase the abortion time limit from 20 to 24 weeks was passed. This provision has been made for the special category of women, including the victims of rape, victims of bad eyesight of relatives, disabled and minors. This provision can be implemented on medical, human and social grounds.

The Medical Termination of Pregnancy (Amendment) Bill-2020 was passed by voice vote. In this bill, it is proposed to amend the Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act-1971. The opposition's amendment proposal on the bill fell.
