The Congress has been adamant in Parliament over the Prime Minister's statement. After the Rajya Sabha, the External Affairs Minister is now defending the Prime Minister in the Lok Sabha. In the Lok Sabha also, the uproar broke out after External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar's statement. The foreign minister said there was no such thing with Trump, he never insisted on mediation. It is only after the end of terrorism that any dialogue with Pakistan is possible.

In her statement, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi said that we will continue to demand the Prime Minister's statement.  Congress leader Anand Sharma also raised the issue and demanded a response from the government. Expressing objection to Trump's mediated statement on Kashmir, the Congress asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to come to Parliament and respond. In the Rajya Sabha, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar defended the Prime Minister on the issue. "Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not made any such appeal," the External Affairs Minister said, following the opposition's uproar that the Rajya Sabha had to await till 12 p.m.

For your information, the External Affairs Minister said that PM Modi never asked Trump for mediation on the Kashmir issue. The Kashmir issue will be resolved through bilateral talks. Kashmir is a bilateral issue of Indo-Pak. He says Pak will talk only when terrorism is eliminated. In the Lok Sabha also, the Congress has raised Trump's mediated statement and asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to respond. This makes it clear that the Opposition needs only a response from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
