Palaniswami of Tamil Nadu CM Edappadi has made a big announcement in the state assembly. In this special announcement, he said that the state will celebrate the birthday of former CM J Jayalalitha on 24 February as the Women's Protection Day. Because Jayalalithaa worked for women and children. Along with this, many schemes were also started in her name. On Jayalalithaa's birth anniversary, the AIADMK had asked its workers to help the poor by organizing blood donation and medical camps.

In a press release issued by the party regarding this matter, it was said that the top leaders of the party, O Panneerselvam, and K Palaniswami, will reach the party headquarters first on February 24 and garland the statue of the late Chief Minister. It has also been said that blood donation camps and medical camps should be organized for the students. They should also be assisted. Apart from organizing free marriages, plans are also being made to feed people in old age homes.

Jayalalithaa became an actor-turned-politician after the demise of her mentor and party founder MG Ramachandran (MGR) in the 80s. After this, the reins of AIADMK were given in her hands. She became the Chief Minister for the first time in 1991. Jayalalithaa is known for her remarkable comebacks. She also led the party to victory in 2001, 2011 and 2016 assembly elections. She is still known as Puraichi Thalaivi (revolutionary leader) among her supporters. She died on 5 December 2016.
