It may be noted that the relationship between Navjot Singh Sidhu and Punjab CM Capt Amarinder Singh has been tense for the past several days. Captain Amarinder has already expressed his disapproval over the forced praise of his Jhapaki and Pak PM Imran from Pakistan Army chief Qamar Javed Bajwa. The tension between the two was first surfaced, when a few months back, Sidhu had said that his captain was only one and that is Rahul Gandhi.

Following Sidhu's statement, some ministers of the Punjab Government had raised their voice against him and demanded him to dismiss him from the cabinet. In the recent Lok Sabha polls, the tension between the two has increased greatly with the party not performing as expected in the diocese. The captain is upset with Sidhu over the "poor performance" of the Congress in urban areas of the state. Sidhu, on the other hand, retains a rebellious mood. He was also not involved in the first meeting of the Punjab cabinet after the election result.
