Navy’s P8I aircraft to participate in anti-submarine warfare

New Delhi: The third edition of the coordinated multilateral anti-submarine warfare (ASW) exercise for long-range maritime reconnaissance aircraft, Sea Dragon 23, would feature P8I aircraft from the Indian Navy.

According to the , the exercise, which is set to take place from March 15 to 30, would emphasise coordinated anti-submarine warfare among the participating nations.

Together with a P8I from the Indian Navy, a P8A from the US Navy, a P1 from the Japanese Maritime Self Defence Force, a CP 140 from the Royal Canadian Air Force, and a P3C from the RoKN would all be represented during the drill.

On March 14, Indian Navy P8I aircraft flew into Guam, US. The P8A of the US Navy, P1 of the Japanese Maritime Self Defense Force, CP 140 of the Royal Canadian Air Force, and P3C of the Republic of Korea Navy will also participate in the multilateral ASW along with this aircraft (RoKN).

During the past few years, these drills' complexity and scope have steadily evolved to incorporate advanced ASW drills. Exercise Sea Dragon 23 will put participating aircraft's tracking abilities to the test while also allowing for the sharing of expertise.

Together with a P8I from the Indian Navy, a P8A from the US Navy, a P1 from the Japanese Maritime Self Defence Force, a CP 140 from the Royal Canadian Air Force, and a P3C from the RoKN would all be represented during the drill.

Based on their common principles and dedication to an open, inclusive Indo-Pacific, the friendly navies participating in the exercise hope to achieve high levels of coordination and synergy.
