Sukma: A Naxal was killed in an encounter with security forces in the Sukma district of Chhattisgarh on Friday, according to officials. The confrontation took place in Belpocha village, under the jurisdiction of the Konta Police station. Superintendent of Police Kiran Chavan confirmed the incident, noting that a Naxal operative was killed and a weapon was recovered from the scene. A comprehensive search operation is currently underway in the area, Chavan added. Further details are awaited.

This incident follows a similar encounter on May 18, where another Naxalite was killed by security forces in Sukma district. The incident occurred in the area between Tolnai and Tetrai villages, further highlighting the ongoing conflict in the region. These encounters are part of the ongoing efforts by security forces to combat Naxalite activities in Chhattisgarh.

Additionally, on May 10, an exchange of fire broke out between Naxals and security forces in the jungle near Pidiya village, also in Chhattisgarh. This gunfight took place within the limits of the Gangaloor Police Station. These recurring incidents underscore the persistent challenges faced by security forces in maintaining peace and security in the region.
