"The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has busted an international criminal organisation that traded drugs via DarkNet and cryptocurrencies and had connections in many states in India as well as other countries," sources said
the CBI is conducting operations against drug cartels under the direct supervision of Union Home Minister Amit Shah in order to fulfil Prime Minister Narendra Modi's goal of ending the country's drug trade, they said.
“The gang had connection in the United States, Netherlands and Canada, and in States of West Bengal, Karnataka, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Odisha, Maharashtra, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Assam,” the sources said.
The drug market on the Darknet and social media, which was operated by unidentified, professional traffickers, as well as a home delivery network, were found and destroyed during the investigation, they claimed.
The sources stated that the drug traffickers' methods included using the Darknet, cryptocurrencies, digital media, UPIs, and fake KYC documents in addition to post and courier services.
"In line with strategic and operational planning, during the operation, which lasted over 11 months, 47 cases were registered, 40 people were detained, and the NCB in 2021–22 confiscated a variety of drugs and cash," they said.
The coordination with foreign drug liaison officers and good coordination between the numerous zonal units of the NCB and State police forces for simultaneous operations were the highlights of the operation, source said. Divers from the National Disaster Response Force were also utilised to pull important information out of the ocean.
