Police have detained one more person for  brandishing a gun during a ram navami procession in Shivpur in Howrah district. The arrested youth has been identified as Aryan Gupta (18). He was detained from Nandi Bagan in North Howrah late on Tuesday night. Apart from this, another youth named Avinash Yadav has been arrested and is being questioned in connection with the incident, Howrah Police Commissioner Praveen Tripathi said on Wednesday.

Praveen Tripathi told reporters on Wednesday morning that the accused Sumit had also slapped a young man named Avinash Yadav, a resident of Fakir Bagan in Howrah, before fleeing to Munger. When Sumit spoke, Avinash delivered the gun to Aryan's house in Nandibagaan. On Tuesday, a gun was recovered from Aryan. After which he was taken into custody. Avinash is  also being detained and interrogated to ascertain his role in the entire incident, the CP said.

The CP also said that action is being taken on the statements of several other eyewitnesses. Many names have come up during the investigation. The CID is investigating the incident of firing in the Ram Navami procession. The CP has also said that the information is going to be handed over to the CID officials by howrah police.
