Visakhapatnam: In view of the news of Cyclone Jawad in Andhra Pradesh, 11 teams of NDRF, 5 teams of SDRF, 6 teams of coast guards and 10 teams of Marine Police have been deployed in 3 districts. 54,008 people have been evacuated from Visakhapatnam, Vizianagram and Srikakulam.

The Met ministry has declared an orange alert for Bhubaneswar, Cuttack cities of Odisha. Which means these cities are going to receive heavy rainfall. It will also have strong winds of 40 to 50 kmph. Cyclone Jawad in Odisha has just come under the category of D7 i.e. danger. However, the category of effect of cyclonegoes even higher. The next category is great danger, i.e., GD8, GD9, or GD10. The cyclone is not in that category right now.

So far, 700 people have been evacuated from the coastal areas of Puri in Odisha, including 14 pregnant women. Coastal areas have been receiving rain since late at night due to cyclonic effect. All schools in Odisha have been closed in view of the threat of cyclone Jawad. All government officials and personnel have also been cancelled. The impact of Cyclone Jawad in Odisha may be more visible in coastal areas so Gopalpur, Puri, Paradeep, Dhamara ports are on high alert. Cyclonic effect is going to cause tremendous strong waves in the sea. They can also harm the port.
