Rohtas: 40 children have been severely ill after consuming contaminated wild fruits in Ballia village of Itamha Panchayat in Nasriganj police station area of Rohtas district of Bihar. All children are students from class 1 to 6 of the middle school, Ballia, who are currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Itamha. The condition of all children is said to be normal.

It has been revealed that there is a wild fruit tree adjacent to the school's boundary, which made the children sick by eating.  In a serious condition, the families of the students have been admitted to a private clinic for treatment, where all are undergoing treatment. The parents of the students said that after coming home from school, the children began to faint with vomiting and diarrhea. They have been admitted later. The parents said that it is clearly showing the negligence of the school administration. The school administration is engaged in playing with the lives of children. If school teachers and other employees were conscious of children, such an incident won't have happened.

Dr. Ashok Singh said that eating wild fruits has worsened the condition of children. All are being treated. All are out of danger. Children are between 2 and 12 years old and are residents of Ballia village. On the other hand, HM Usha Kiran said that all the children have eaten the fruit after the school's exemption. By the time all the other children and teachers had gone home. No such incident has taken place during the school period. As HM says, the children are reported to be sick and hospitalized after 9.15 pm. HM says there is no tree of the said fruit in the Vidyalaya premises.
