The 44th Chess Olympiad is scheduled to be launched this month from July 28 at Mahabalipuram near Chennai. Fans around the world are going to have an eye on this Chess Olympiad. Now the anthem for this Olympiad has also been released. Anthem's name is Welcome to our Chennai. This anthem has been composed and sung by AR Rahman. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin is also seen in the anthem.

AR Rahman has said, "Chase Olympiad is going to bring the world to our Chennai. I am honoured to be getting a chance to compose songs for such an international event. Russia was to host the 44th Chess Olympiad, but it has been shifted to India due to the Russian attack on Ukraine. After the World Championship match in 2013, it is a major event of chess game was held in India. The Chess Olympiad is a 2-year team event in which teams from about 190 countries compete for two weeks.''

Before this mega event, the Olympiad torch relay was introduced in New Delhi on June 19 last month. Starting from Delhi, this torch is passing through 75 different cities of the country. Finally, on July 27, it will reach Mahabalipuram, followed by the Chase Olympiad on July 28. The Chase Olympiad is scheduled to run until August 10, 2022.
