After winning the first match of the T20 series against New Zealand, KL Rahul said that he seems to be enjoying the important responsibility found in the team. While batting with wicketkeeping is challenging, Indian player Lokesh Rahul said on Friday that he is 'enjoying' the extra responsibility as it is helping him perform at his best. In addition to playing a blistering innings of 56 off 27 balls, Rahul shared a 99-run partnership with skipper Virat Kohli (45) to help India reach their 204-run target in the first T20 International against New Zealand by losing four wickets. Where Rahul took the responsibility behind the wicket after regular wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant got injured in the last ODI series against Australia. In the series, he contributed brilliantly behind the wicket and with the bat, after which Kohli said that he will continue this dual responsibility as it makes the balance of the team right.
After the first T20 against New Zealand, when Rahul was asked about this, he said that I honestly feel it. Internationally it may seem new, but I have been doing this for my IPL franchise for the last three-four years. Whenever I get a chance, I keep doing this for my first class team. I keep practicing wicketkeeping. He said that I like to stay behind the wicket, because it gives an idea of the pitch. I give information related to this to the bowlers and the captain and the captain applies fielding accordingly. Rahul said that even after keeping for 20 overs as a batsman, you get an idea of what shot to play on the pitch. I am enjoying this responsibility.
According to reports, in the press conference after the match, when Rahul asked Rishabh Pant's return to Team India, Rahul said that it is not his job. He was asked, 'Do you think Rishabh Pant will return to the team and play in this series? On this, Rahul said that it is not in my power.
