NIA Intensifies Crackdown on Human Trafficking: Four Arrested in Tripura

New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has intensified its crackdown on human trafficking, arresting four individuals for illegally entering Indian territory through Tripura. The arrests were made in connection with a human trafficking case filed in Guwahati in October. The accused will be transported to Guwahati in Assam after securing court orders in Agartala. This development follows the earlier arrest of 29 key operatives in a nationwide raid on human trafficking syndicates on November 8.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the newly arrested individuals are linked to the 29 people apprehended in last month's raids. They were involved in infiltrating people from Bangladesh into India while residing near the international border in Tripura. The human trafficking activities were orchestrated by racketeers associated with well-organized syndicates operating in multiple districts of Tripura. These syndicates were found to be connected to operatives based in other parts of India.

The arrested individuals were reportedly coordinating with traffickers across the international border to facilitate the illegal infiltration of individuals of Bangladeshi origin into India. The NIA initiated the case on October 6 after receiving intelligence about organized human trafficking syndicates operating along the India-Bangladesh border. These syndicates were involved in infiltrating individuals into India with the intention of settling them in various parts of the country.

The NIA uncovered that the accused were not only orchestrating trafficking operations but also providing forged Indian identity documents for those transported from across the border into India.
