Munger: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is hopeful that some AK-47 Assault Rifles sold to Naxalites and arms dealers in Bihar could be recovered after revelationof  of underworld and Naxalite in Munger district of Bihar. The case pertains to 22 AK-47 rifles recovered in September 2018 at Munger in Bihar.

The rifles were smuggled from the central arsenal at Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh. According to an NIA official involved in the investigation, the agency has identified several arms dealers and naxalites in Bihar who would have purchased the Assault Rifle from Purushottam Lal Razak, a retired Arsenal employee, from 2012 to 2018. Munger police arrested Razak in September 2018.

Razak had admitted to the police that he had provided 70 AK-74 Assault Rifles and spare parts to the culprits in Munger.  The arms smuggling case first surfaced in August 2018 when Munger police detained Mohammed Imran with three AK-47 rifles and recovered three more weapons from arms dealer Shamsher Alam.
