Nikhat and Neetu reach semi-finals of Strandja Memorial Boxing Tournament

Former junior world champion Nikhat Zareen (52kg) and Neetu (48kg) have made it to the semi-finals by winning their respective bouts at the ongoing 73rd Strandza Memorial Tournament in Sofia, Bulgaria. Nikhat has won over England's Charlie Davision and Neetu has won over Italy's Roberta Bonati 5-0. With these two players entering the semi-finals, India can have three medals in the tournament. On Tuesday, Nandini (81+) secured her first medal for the country.  

Sumit and Anamika lose in the first round: Here Indian boxers Sumit Kundu (75kg) and Anamika (50kg) have suffered defeats in their opening round bouts. Sumit lost 0-5 to the reigning world and European champion Aleksandr Khejniak of Ukraine in the pre-quarterfinals. Anamika has crashed out of the last eight matches after losing 1-4 to Romania's Romessa Baulem of Algeria.
