Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan stated he hasn't decided whether or not to extend the tenure of Chief of the Army Staff Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa.  "The new year has only just begun, and November is still a long way off. So, why is there concern about the army chief's tenure being extended? "In an interview, the Prime Minister stated that he has an unrivalled relationship with the military leadership.

When repoerters asked if he felt endangered from any quarters in the wake of rumours of a possible arrangement between the opposition Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the military to depose his administration, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif responded he did not.

The PM went on to say that he had the support of government allies and that he is confident that his government will complete its five-year mandate. Speaking on his party's fight for accountability, he stated that significant opposition politicians had yet to face corruption charges and were still free due to inadequate prosecution, according to reoports

He stated that the National Accountability Bureau would bring cases to court, but that they would not be prosecuted. Khan confessed that his government's greatest shortcoming was not prosecuting opposition leaders despite proof of corruption against them, but expressed optimism that PML-N leader Shehbaz Sharif would not escape punishment in the new case launched against him by the Federal Investigation Agency.
