Saharanpur: All these days people are troubled by the power outages and the bills. According to the reports, the smart electricity meters are to be installed.  The meter will be able to read online and the connection could be cut from the power station in case of excess dues or thefts.

Yes, the Power Corporation has been continuously experimenting to install one meter after another and the ordinary meter has been replaced by electronic meters. The pre-paid metering was started after some officials and others stopped the work after installation of pre-paid meters. Now, the process of installing smart meters is being undertaken in the first phase in which smart meters are being installed in big cities including Meerut, Noida, Lucknow, Ghaziabad.

In the second phase, smart meters will be installed in Saharanpur and these meters will be connected through the internet. As per the information available, online reading could be done online and the power supply from the meter can be switched off through the remote. There are reports that the smart meter will be launched in Saharanpur from December or January.
