New Delhi: Like planes, trains will now see women train hostesses. Indian Railways will recruit them in premium trains in the coming days for the hospitality of passengers. It will take full care of the passengers from sitting in their proper seats to their safety and comfort etc.

Media reports quoting a senior Indian Railway official said that like airlines, not all women crew will be involved in train attendants. However, women appointed for the new post need to have trained in the hospitality service sector as they will need to provide services like congratulating passengers in premium trains, serving food, and taking care of the grievances of travelling passengers. The hostesses will be posted in Vande Bharat Express, Gatiman Express, and Tejas Express. However, they will not be placed in long-distance premium trains like Rajdhani Express and Duronto Express.

The decision was taken as part of drive-by railways to modernize the experience of rail travel and provide better passenger amenities. The official further said the train attendants will match the hospitality standards of passengers seen on planes to compete with airlines' services. However, he also said that these nurses will work only during the day and will not be included in the overnight services.
