Bhubaneswar: The low pressure area in the Bay of Bengal has turned into a cyclonic storm Jawad. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the cyclonic storm is likely to hit the north Andhra Pradesh and Odisha coasts today (Saturday). The Odisha government has decided to shift pregnant women from cyclone affected areas to district hospitals and other hospitals. So that they do not face any difficulties during the storm.
The Odisha government has made all preparations to deal with Cyclone Jawad. The state government has directed pregnant women in cyclone affected areas to be admitted to safe hospitals following the corona virus guidelines. Meanwhile, localpeople are being evacuated to safer places under the supervision of district collectors of coastal areas. According to official sources, 25 proud women from the potential cyclone-hit district of Puri were admitted to the district headquarters hospital and other nearby hospitals.
Meanwhile, 184 pregnant women from Ganjam district were shifted to safer hospitals. Similarly 73 women from Kendrapara have been admitted to the hospital. At the same time, 36 pregnant women in Khurda, 86 in Jagatsinghpur and 23 in Cuttack have been shifted to hospitals following the rules of Covid-19 in view of Cyclone Jawad. Of these, 61 gave birth safely.
