Bhubaneswar: A major accident is being reported from Odisha's Malkangiri district. According to the report, a boat carrying 12 people suddenly capsized in the Kutumpali river here. One person is said to be missing in the incident. According to the information, the accident took place in Padia block on September 9. It is being told that the boat was carrying 12 labourers for the construction of the bridge. 3 bikes were also loaded on this motor boat.  

Meanwhile, the boat suddenly lost balance and it overturned in the middle river. Six of the 12 people in the boat swam safely. Of the remaining six, five were pulled out by firefighters. However, one person is still reported missing. The missing person has been identified as Kailash Shah, a junior engineer hailing from Madhya Pradesh. The exact cause of the boat's overturning is not known, but overloading is suspected to have caused the accident.

Earlier, two people were killed when a boat capsized in Chilka Lake in Puri, Odisha on September 4. According to the information, 13 people had gone on a picnic in Kalijai and while returning from there, the boat capsized due to heavy rain and strong winds just 3 km away from the shore. With the help of locals, 11 people were rescued, but two people went missing in this accident. The bodies of the two were later recovered by the fire brigade personnel.
