BHUBANESHWAR: The state-funded flagship programme "MUKTA," which covers 36 urban local bodies in 10 districts, received approval from Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday for the fiscal year 2023–2024.

The RDC (Revenue Divisional Commission) limit for the North includes the following districts: Dhenkanal, Angul, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Balangir, Subarnapur, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, and Deogarh.

Under the auspices of MUKTA (Mukhya Mantri Karma Tatpara Abhiyan), all 36 ULBs have created workable annual action plans for each ward with the participation of local residents and other stakeholders.

All of these projects are demand-driven, technically doable, and environmentally sustainable, according to a formal statement released by the CMO.

Prior to the chief minister's approval, the department level reviewed the action plans. Mission Shakti groups will act as the implementing agency for all of these authorised projects to be undertaken under MUKTA.

Senior CMO officials previously spoke with public representatives from 36 ULBs in 10 districts on June 16 to discuss the effective execution of several MUKTA initiatives.

The projects permitted under MUKTA are climate-resilient work, which includes building community centres with a variety of uses, enhancing public spaces, developing water bodies, building open spaces, and performing other labor-intensive tasks.

The MUKTA programme was introduced by Patnaik in April 2020 with the goal of addressing the need of creating climate resilient, cost-effective, sustainable, and replicable community assets by implementing labor-intensive public works across 115 urban local bodies. Its target population is urban poor, informal, and migrant labourers who are unemployed and vulnerable due to the COVID-19 infused crisis.
