BHUBANESWAR:  A high-level panel of Odisha government led by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is set to visit Rome and Dubai.

Patnaik arrived in New Delhi on Saturday and will lead the team to Rome on June 20, the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) said in a statement.

Chief Secretary Suresh Mohapatra leads the delegation, which also includes V.K. Pandian, secretary to the Chief Minister (5T), V.V. Yadav, principal secretary, food and civil supplies, Hemant Sharma, and Ravi Kant, resident commissioner in New Delhi.

The World Food Program (WFP) has invited Patnaik to visit its headquarters in Rome and highlight Odisha's revolutionary initiatives in the fields of food security and disaster management, the CMO said.

"Odisha has gone from being reliant on others for its food security to becoming a food surplus state that contributes to the country's public distribution system. Odisha is now a model in disaster management, as recognised by the United Nations, after suffering terrible losses during the super storm of 1999 "It was stated.

Patnaik will meet with WFP's executive director, David Beasley, and the organization's senior leadership. He will have in-depth conversations about Odisha's collaboration with the World Food Programme (WFP) as well as upcoming projects that would aid the state in securing long-term food security.
