New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi today laid the foundation stone of the new Parliament House. This new building will be completely ready by the time 75 years of independence is complete. The new building of Parliament House is more large, attractive and with modern facilities. Meanwhile, we are giving you some interesting facts about the old Parliament House.

The Parliament House was built 93 years ago by the British for Rs 83 lakh, while the cost of the new Parliament House is being told as Rs 971 crore. It is said that the British took the design of the Parliament House from an ancient temple situated in a small village in Morena district in Madhya Pradesh. The name of this temple is the fourteen Yogini temple of Mitavali-Padavali. Many reports mention it as a coincidence or a reality, but the British architect Edwin Lutyens built this temple as a base for the Parliament building. However, no official confirmation has ever been made in this regard. This temple matches the Parliament House both inside and outside.

The design of the Parliament House was prepared by the famous British architect Edwin K. Lutyens from that period in 1912-13. It was built between 1921 and 1927. It was inaugurated in 1927 by Lord Irwin, the Viceroy of India. The building was built by the British to form the new administrative capital in Delhi. After independence, it became the Parliament House.
