On Tuesday, a man in Mukalmua, Nalbari, was reportedly assaulted by a loan recovery agent. Ahmed Hussain claims that a debt collection agent from a car loan firm assaulted him after he announced that he would be late on his payments. Abdul Majid, a local resident, has been named as the culprit.

Hussain claims that he bought a motorcycle on EMI two years ago and paid the EMIs on time, but that he was a little late this time. Despite his agreement to pay the EMI by the end of January, Majid reportedly harassed and beat him and sought immediate payment. Majid brutally assaulted Hussain, who had to be taken to the hospital.

Hussain has filed a complaint against the recovery agent, which has triggered an inquiry. It should be mentioned that some persons in the state have made claims about illegal recovery agents. Recovery agents have been accused of forcibly "seizing" vehicles with pending EMIs on occasions.
