New Delhi: The central government is going to start ration card portability service from June 1 for the poor people of 20 states and union territories. This will enable people to buy rations at cheaper prices from PDS shops anywhere. Lockdown during the Corona crisis will provide great relief to the workers and people belonging to the poor sections.

This scheme, named 'One Nation, One Ration Card', will prove to be a boon for workers moving from metros and other industrial centers to their homes and economically weaker sections during lockdown. . With this, they will be able to buy food items anywhere cheap. At present, the work of connecting 17 states and union territories has been done.

Under this scheme, beneficiaries of the National Food Security Act (NFSA) will be able to buy ration from PDS shops anywhere in the country with a single ration card. Giving information, Food Minister Ram Vilas Paswan has said that Odisha, Mizoram and Nagaland will also be linked to this scheme. Ration card portability scheme will start in a total of 20 states and union territories from June 1.
