Ghazipur: As soon as the new year begins, there is a piece of relief news about onion prices. In Uttar Pradesh's Ghazipur district, the price of onion, which has been crying for the last two months, has come down somewhat. Along with this, the potato has also become somewhat cheaper. The wholesale price of onion has declined more than the retail. The retail price of onion has decreased by about 20 rupees in the last 10 days. So at the same time, people are feeling relieved due to the fall in the wholesale and retail rates of potatoes.

The wholesale price of onion in Ghazipur mandi was Rs 65 per kg in the new year, while onion sold at Rs 80 per kg in the market. Along with onion, there has also been a drop in the price of garlic. A week ago, the garlic which was being sold for 230 rupees, sold on Tuesday for 180 rupees. Similarly, a potato has dropped by 20 to 30 rupees in five kg as compared to a week ago. Right now potato is being sold for 90 rupees at five kilos.

A week ago, onion was selling 8500 rupees, so now 6500 rupees is being sold. Whereas, 5 kg onion is being sold in retail at the rate of Rs 400. At the same time, the potato was also available for Rs. 2000 a quintal last week, which is now being sold for Rs. 1500. While in retail, the price of 5 kg potatoes is going on for 90 rupees. Green peas are being sold for 55 rupees and cabbage flowers at the rate of 50 rupees.
