New Delhi:- The custom instructions option has been reported to disappear for some users. We're looking into this, but in the meantime don't be surprised if this feature isn't currently available.
OpenAI just introduced custom instructions for ChatGPT users. This eliminates the need for users to write the same instructions to the chatbot every time they interact with the chatbot (such as "write her answer in less than 1,000 words" or "keep the tone of the answer formal").
The company said the feature will allow users to "share whatever ChatGPT wants to respect in their responses." For example, a teacher might say she teaches her 4th grade math, or a developer might indicate her preferred coding language when asking for suggestions. You can also enter the number of people in your family so that ChatGPT can give you the right answers about meals, meals and vacation plans.

The user can already set these settings while chatting with the bot, but custom directives are useful if the user needs to set the same context frequently. Guides also work with plugins to make it easier to suggest restaurants and flights based on your location.
OpenAI pointed out that the feature is available for Plus plan users, but not for people outside the EU and UK. It is currently a beta feature. Users can try this feature out on the web by clicking their name and going to Settings > Beta Features > Enable Custom Instructions. On iOS, users can access this via Settings > What's New > Enable Custom Instructions.
Specifically, OpenAI says it uses the information provided in customization responses to train API models to adapt to different instructions.

“Information gained from using custom instructions is also used to improve model performance, for example, by teaching the model how to tailor its response to instructions without overdoing it,” the company said. However, users can disable this setting through their data control settings.
As consultant Gabriel Cohen pointed out on Twitter, OpenAI has been testing the feature with some users for some time. ChatGPT has his two fields for setting chat preferences where users can write about themselves and how they would like the chatbot's response to be optimized.

Once the user has entered their answers, the changes will take effect from the next session. The company says the maximum response length is 1,500 characters. OpenAI says it uses a moderation API to scan custom statements to check if they are somehow unsafe. ChatGPT may refuse to store instructions or ignore instructions if the resulting response violates company policy. This is to prevent a user from entering instructions that would result in a malicious or hateful response from his ChatGPT.
In May, OpenAI released the ChatGPT app for iOS specifically for US-based users. But a few weeks after that announcement, the company expanded its availability to over 40 countries. Last month, the startup released an iPad app that supports Siri and Shortcuts. The company also added an option for users to search for answers on her web via his Bing through his ChatGPT app.
