New Delhi: The debate over the suspension of a dozen MPs resumed on Friday, with the opposition raising the subject in the Upper House. "The opposition leaders are making aggressive statements and have refused to apologise on the main subject, even though I have offered an apology on minor issues," House Leader Piyush Goyal remarked.

How can the situation be fixed if they refuse to apologise?" M. Venkaiah Naidu, the chairman, had already asked both sides to resolve the issue. Under rule 267, the Chairman has rejected multiple notices from opposition leaders. Deepender Hooda, a Congress MP, issued one of the notifications, demanding compensation for the families of farmers who had died as a result of the agitation since last year.

Twelve MPs who were suspended for the whole winter session for causing a commotion in the House during the monsoon session on August 11 are protesting outside the Parliament grounds at the Gandhi statue. The Congress, Trinamool Congress, CPI, CPI-M, and Shiv Sena are among the MPs that have been suspended.
