Bhubaneswar: With a record of 10,521 new cases of coronavirus infection registered in Odisha on Thursday, the total number of infected people has crossed 5 lakh to 5,00,162, while the death of 17 coronavirus patients has increased the death toll in the state to 2,121.

A senior health department official has informed about this. In the new cases, 5,945 cases have come from various quarantine centers while the remaining cases have increased through connectivity. Khurda district is worst affected by corona, where the highest number of 1,477 new cases have been reported. This has been followed by 1,186 cases in Sundergarh and 963 in Cuttack. The rate of corona infection in the state has increased to 4.82 percent. The health department has also reported on Twitter that 17 corona patients died during treatment.

The highest number of corona deaths in Khurda district is four. This was followed by two patients each in Balasore and Malkangiri while one each from corona in Boudh, Devgarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Kalahandi, Nayagarh, Raigad, Sambalpur, and Sundergarh. In addition, 53 people infected with corona who were suffering from serious diseases also died.
