The Chhello Show which surpasses all Big Budget Bollywood and South Indian movie was selected as India’s official entry to the 95th Academy Awards for the international film category. Meanwhile, from the day  it was announced that the movie was announced that Chhellow show became official entry the movie is receiving Backlash for different reasons. Recently the director of the film opens up about the threats he is getting.

Pan Nalin said, "The worst was the cyber attack prior to our film's release. My team was threatened with warnings, 'Oscars mein se film nikaal, nahi toh achcha nahin hoga'. Instead of celebrating and campaigning in the US, we were busy fighting this [vitriol] for three to four weeks. When the Indian audience, film critics, and industry folks finally watched the movie, they could not stop themselves from falling in love with it. In the end, the power of cinema won."

He also said, “I was always under the impression some other films moved forward. I remembered that for two decades no [Indian] film has been shortlisted. Just hearing that in itself, is like 'wow', that's quite an amazing thing, especially in our country which produces 2,000 movies a year. In a small tiny way, to be a part of the history of Indian cinema and Oscars is quite amazing. We hope we broke some kind of a jinx.”

'Chhello Show' is inspired by its movie director Pan Nalin's childhood memories, which makes it a semi-autobiographical film. Nalin was born and spent all her childhood in Adtala village of Saurashtra. 'Chhelo Show' features six village boys from local communities in the region and was shot in villages and railway stations in Saurashtra. He also brought in old celluloid Hindi films and technicians to run projectors to make the film look as real as possible.
