New Delhi: Former Union Finance Minister and senior Congress leader P. Chidambaram did not get bail from the Supreme Court. The court has extended his judicial custody P. Chidambaram will now have to remain in jail till October 17. Delhi's Rouge Avenue Court refused to grant bail to Chidambaram. However, he accepted his request to get him home-cooked food. The court allowed Chidambaram to have home food once a day during judicial custody.

Chidambaram's had requested the court to allow him to eat home-cooked food. Senior advocate Kapil Sibal, who is representing Chidambaram, referred the matter to listen immediately before a bench headed by Justice NV Raman. Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Justice Murari are also included in the bench.

The bench said that Chidambaram's petition would be sent to Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi to take a decision on listing the case. The Congress leader is currently lodged in Tihar Jail in judicial custody. The petition filed in the court had cited Chidambaram's demand for homemade food citing ill health. He is relieved on this. Earlier, Chidambaram has told the judge in court that he is not getting good food in jail. Due to this, its weight is also decreasing.
