Lucknow: Stone pelting took place in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur on June 3 after Friday prayers in protest against the alleged statement of suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma. Now suddenly, Muslim organisations in the city have decided not to take out a Paiki procession during Muharram this year, as they fear that the situation will deteriorate during the procession. It is being claimed that Muslim organisations are "concerned" about the law and order situation in the city.

In fact, due to the Corona epidemic, except for the last two years, these processions have been taken out continuously for the last 225 years. It was likely to start once again from this year, but now it has been stopped once again. Let us know that the Paiki procession is considered to be one of the big processions of Muharram in the city. It is worth mentioning that Paiki is those people who are wearing black 'kurta-pyjamas'. They have bells tied with ropes on their backs and shoulders. They go to Imambara, Karbala and Imam Chowk with Muharram processions, chanting 'Ya Hussain'.

The people of the Khalifa Shakeel of Tanzeem Nishan-e-Pike Qasid-e-Hussain and the people of Tanzeem-al-Paiq Qasid-e-Hussain have been taking out processions every year with donations from good Muslims. Regarding this year's procession, the current in charge of the procession, Kafeel Qureshi said that there will be no Paiki procession on the occasion of Muharram this year. He said "In view of the atmosphere in the city, it has been decided not to take out a Paiki procession this year. We have urged people to offer prayers at their homes in this Muharram and help maintain peace in the city.''

Khalifa Shakeel of Kanpur city has also said that he will not take out a Paiki procession this year in view of the strict law and order situation in the city. The Caliph said, "There will be no Paiki procession this year. The administration has been apprised in this regard. The decision has been taken keeping in mind the atmosphere in the city after the June 3 violence. We have asked people not to get involved in any such work.''
