On Saturday, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan had a phone conversation with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on the current situation in Afghanistan. "The PM (Imran Khan) appreciated the vital role of the United Nations in delivering much-needed humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people," he said.

"UN agencies have warned of a major humanitarian crisis looming in Afghanistan, amid uncertainty about the situation for vulnerable Afghans seeking shelter across the country's borders." The Prime Minister emphasized Pakistan's assistance to the United Nations in this respect, including aiding in evacuation and relocation operations," the Pakistan Prime Minister's Office stated on Twitter.

"Assuring Secretary-General Guterres of Pakistan's ongoing cooperation with the UN in carrying out its mandate, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif reiterated Pakistan's complete support for the smooth functioning of the United Nations' humanitarian mission in Afghanistan," the Office stated.

On September 13, the UN head will convene a high-level conference for Afghanistan in response to the country's rising humanitarian needs. According to the media, Afghan children, women, and men need international help and solidarity.
