Pakistan announces squad for T20 World Cup, many star players out of the squad

Islamabad: Pakistan have announced a 15-member squad for the T20 World Cup. The names of many players in the team have surprised fans. Middle-order batsmen Asif Ali and Khushdil Shah were selected for next month's T20 World Cup after Pakistan's 15-man squad did not have an "impressive number" while the experienced duo of star player Fakhar Zaman and wicketkeeper Sarfaraz Ahmed have been dropped from the squad. Arshad Iqbal, Fahim Ashraf, Fakhar Zaman, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Sharzil Khan and Usman Qadir, who were part of the Pakistan squad for the T20 series in England and the West Indies, have been dropped.

The Babar Azam-led team will also play in the T20 match against New Zealand and England ahead of the World Cup. Seven domestic T20 internationals will be played in Lahore and Rawalpindi from September 25 to October 14, with Pakistan clashing with arch-rivals India in the first match of their T20 World Cup in Dubai on October 24. The T20 World Cup begins on October 17 in UAE and Oman.
