Islamabad: People are facing serious threats due to lack of medical facilities and food in one of the worst affected areas of Coronavirus in Pakistan. More than 800 cases of coronavirus have already been reported in Gilgit-Baltistan, an area bordering China's Xinjiang province. However, no basic medical infrastructure exists to deal with the crisis.

Reports in the Pakistani media state that Gilgit-Baltistan has only two old-model ventilators and the area has not received any medical aid and supplies from the federal government. Human rights activist Dr Amjad Ayub Mirza claimed in a tweet that Gilgit-Baltistan has only two ventilators. Astor's lawyer Mohammad Bakar Mehedi said that they (the government) get money and donations, but they use those money for their own purpose and not for the welfare of the people. However, he does not realize that it is the people who have given him the mandate to sit on power.

He further said that I urge the authorities to focus on this area, which was already deprived of rights. Unemployment has increased massively due to the corona virus. Meanwhile, doctors in hospitals in Pakistan are seeing an increasing number of coronavirus patients. The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the country is more than the number in neighboring China.
