BCCI President Sourav Ganguly on Wednesday announced the cancellation of the Asia Cup T20 due to the covid-19 epidemic, which was to be held in September. Ganguly said to 'Sports Tak', 'The Asia Cup in September has been canceled. Pakistan Cricket Board confirmed this. In which they have agreed to host the tournament in 2022 and after the cancellation of this year's phase, Sri Lanka will now host it next year. On this, PCB chief Ehsan Mani said that this decision has been taken due to Corona epidemic. The veteran administrator told PTI, 'The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) wants to organize it next year. Hosting it this year is quite dangerous. We exchanged this tournament with Sri Lanka this year because it is one of the least affected countries in South Asia.

Subsequently, Mani said that there is no politics involved in the postponement and this decision has been taken solely in view of the security situation. He said, "We had to host it first, but when I saw the covid-19 situation in the UAE, Pakistan and other South Asian countries, Sri Lanka had the possibility of organizing this tournament." Explaining further, Mani said, 'So Sri Lanka Cricket and PCB discussed it, we proposed to the ACC to exchange it and the board has given it permission. There is no politics in this, it was done to keep cricket safe, nothing else. After the cancellation of the Asia Cup, the ICC's decision on the T20 World Cup is now awaited.
