Petrol and diesel prices cut down on Tuesday…check rates inside

New Delhi: On Tuesday, Retail petrol, diesel prices were cut and after today’s price revision, petrol became cheaper by 5 paise across major cities of the country while diesel prices fell by 7 paise per litre. In the national capital Delhi, petrol is sold at Rs 72.41 a litre today as against Rs 72.46 per litre yesterday and diesel is sold at Rs 67.37 as compared with Rs 67.44 on Monday.

Prices in Metro cities, in Kolkata, the retail prices of petrol and diesel are Rs 74.49 a litre and Rs 69.16 a litre respectively, according to data available on Indian Oil Corporation website.In Mumbai, petrol is sold at Rs 78.04 a litre, down 5 paise compared with yesterday’s price of Rs 78.09 a litre, and diesel is sold at Rs 70.58, down 7 paise from Rs 70.65 a litre on Monday. Citizens in Chennai have to shell out Rs 75.20 for a litre of petrol while diesel retailed at Rs 71.20 per litre.

Notably, petrol price in October last year had peaked to Rs 84 a litre in Delhi and it crossed the Rs 91 mark in Mumbai. Since the starting of this year, the retail price of petrol went up by about Rs 4 a litre and that of diesel by about Rs 5 a litre. On Tuesday, in the international oil market, crude prices went up due to robust demand and output cuts led by producer group OPEC. International Brent crude oil futures were trading at USD 66.75 per barrel, up 17 cents, or 0.3 per cent, from their last close.
