New Delhi: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Saturday (November 12) tweeted a video accusing the Modi government at the Center of privatising the railways. Now the PIB Fact Check team has found this claim of Rahul Gandhi wrong. He says that the claims of privatization of railways are completely false and baseless. The Twitter handle of PIB Fact Check shared a screenshot of Rahul Gandhi's tweet, saying the tweet claimed that "151 trains of Indian Railways have been privatised. While the Railways has not privatised any of its assets."

प्रधानमंत्री जी, रेलवे देश की सम्पत्ति है, इसे निजीकरण नहीं, सशक्तिकरण की ज़रूरत है। बेचो मत! pic.twitter.com/Z6m5S0vQio
Rahul tweeted a video on Saturday. In this, Rahul is also seen walking and talking with many people. Tweeting this video, Rahul wrote that 'Railways connects India. It serves 25 million passengers and employs 1.2 million people every day. Mr Prime Minister, railways are the property of the country, it needs empowerment, not privatisation. Don't sell!' The video is said to be from Telangana when some railway union members came to meet Rahul Gandhi to submit a memorandum against railway privatisation during the Bharat Jodo Yatra.

During the journey, Rahul Gandhi asked which part of the Indian Railways he was privatising. Bharani Bhanu Prasad, a member of the South Central Railway Employees Union, said, "Railway stations, railway workshops, railway medical hospitals and railway establishments are being privatised. After this, Rahul questioned when are they (the central government) planning to do this. Are they already doing it slowly?" to which the members said, 'Yes sir.' Rahul Gandhi then asks, "Who is the government giving it to?" Big companies or small companies. The Sangh members said that there are big companies sir. He said that private trains are already being used in India.
