New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh's Yogi Adityanath government has made a big announcement saying that Rs 6 crore will be given as prize money to athletes from the state who won gold medals at the Tokyo Olympic Games. 4 crore will be given to the silver medal winning athlete and Rs 2 crore to the bronze medal winner.

On the other hand, if the players participating in the team event win the gold medal, three crore rupees will be given to each player. 2 crore and Rs 1 crore will be provided for similar silver and bronze respectively. In fact, this time 10 players are participating in the Tokyo Olympics from UP. Yogi Adityanath has also wished all the players all the best for their better performance. It has also announced that 10 lakh rupees will be given by the state government to each athlete participating in the Olympics.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports is also planning to postpone the National Awards for a few weeks in view of the Olympics. This is because later it could include an Olympic medal winning athlete. According to media reports, a source said, "A meeting of the concerned department has been held in this regard. We have got nominations, but we want to keep it the same for a while to include the Olympic medal winners also. Another meeting is likely to be held soon for a final decision in this regard."
