New Delhi: The people of the country remember Jayaprakash Narayan for ending the Emergency and restoring democracy. JP was born on this day, 1902. Today, on his birth anniversary, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah Summit, all the leaders remembered him. PM Modi said that for him, there was nothing above the national interest and welfare of the people.

PM Modi tweeted and wrote, 'I salute Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Narayan on his birth anniversary. He fought bravely for the freedom of the country and when our democratic ethos was attacked, he led a vigorous movement to save it. For him there was nothing above the national interest and welfare of the people. Remembering JP, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh underlined his effective role in securing democracy.

Rajnath tweeted that, 'On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Narayan, I remember and salute his great personality and gratitude. The effective role he played in securing democracy continues to inspire all of us Indians today. Blessed is the land of Bihar, where a national hero like JP was born. '
