New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Monday that under the Centre's Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, every village and town in the country will be free of open defecation, citing it as proof that public engagement can infuse new vitality into the country's growth.
The Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is a concrete example of how public participation can infuse new vigour into a country's growth. "The country is writing new stories in the field of cleanliness today, whether it's the construction of toilets or the disposal of waste, the preservation of historical heritage or competitions for cleanliness," PM Modi tweeted in Hindi.
The Prime Minister also stated that toilets were installed in over 11.5 crore homes across the country as part of the scheme.
PM Modi went on to say that the country is writing new stories in the realm of cleanliness today, whether it is the construction of toilets or the disposal of waste, the preservation of heritage or the competition for cleanliness. More than 58,000 villages and 3,300 towns have been free of open defecation as a result of the initiative.
On August 15, 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan from the Red Fort's ramparts. On October 2, 2021, he initiated the program's second phase.
