PM Modi condoles the passing away of Group Captain Varun Singh, says ''He has served the country...

New Delhi: The Indian Air Force today said that the captain succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Earlier, the Air Force had informed that Singh's condition remains critical and he is undergoing treatment. Varun Singh was undergoing treatment at the command hospital in Bengaluru where he was placed on a life support system.

PM Narendra Modi on Wednesday condoled the passing away of Captain Varun Singh and said that the service he served the country can never be forgotten. Chief Defence Chairman (CDS) General Vipin Rawat, his wife and 11 other army personnel lost their lives in the accident. Varun Singh was undergoing treatment at the command hospital in Bengaluru.

Earlier on Saturday, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh had spoken to Varun Singh's father Col (retd) KP Singh. He was brought to the Air Force Command Hospital in Bengaluru from The Army Hospital in Wellington last Thursday. Group Captain Varun Singh was recently awarded the Shaurya Chakra by President Ram Nath Kovind for his extraordinary courage.
