New Delhi: PM Modi will address the IIT 2020 Global Summit today. The theme of this year's summit organized by Pan IIT America is 'The Future is Now'. According to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), issues such as international economy, technology, innovation, health, habitat protection and universal education will be discussed in this meeting. Pan IIT America is a 20-year-old organization. Since 2003 it has been organizing this conference and has been calling speakers from various fields including industry, education and administration. The PMO stated that Pan IIT America is run by a volunteer team of IIT alumni.

Reputed technical institutes from all over the country including IIT, NIT will collaborate with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to adopt their nearest sections of National Highways on a voluntary basis. Adopted sections of NH will be used as a field of study for faculty, researchers and to familiarize the students of the institute with the latest trends in the industry.

A senior ministry official has said, 'This initiative is expected to create co-ordination between the institute and the industry. It will also lead to mutual cooperation between institutions and NHAI for dissemination of related expertise in the field of civil-highway engineering on national highway projects. '
